International standards relating to AML and CFT have developed quickly in recent years. Jurisdictions are now measured on the effectiveness of their AML/CFT structures. A key component is the ability of competent authorities to conduct effective investigations, leading to successful prosecutions and the recovery of criminal assets.
To assist countries in meeting this objective, the ECOFEL provided an online training course, over two days, on Financial Investigative Techniques. The course concentrated on explaining how to plan and prepare financial investigations, identifying a wide range of financial information sources, demonstrating different techniques to gather evidence, and describing the processes involved in asset recovery.
The ECOFEL would like to thank all (175) FIU and LEA staff from the Asia and Pacific region for their active participation. We also thank the APG secretariat, Regional Rep John Moss (AUSTRAC), and trainer Graeme Miller for their kind support in the organisation and delivery of this event!
