Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, criminals are exploiting the crisis by adapting their modes of operation or developing new criminal activities. Various fraud and scam schemes and other crimes have been reported by FIUs and law enforcement. With this in mind, the ECOFEL has created the COVID-19 Emerging Risk course to highlight various key research findings, COVID-19 crimes and challenges, recommendations and additional sources of information available to FIUs.
By the end of the eLearning course, users will be able to understand:
- Understand factors that prompt changes in crime
- Identify COVID-19 related crimes
- Understand the (operational) challenges faced by FIUs due to the COVID-19 crisis
- Identify best practices and (operational) actions for responding to the COVID-19 crisis
