ECOFEL Certification Program Updates at the 2026 Egmont Group WG/RG Meetings in Tanzania

During the 2026 Egmont Group Working and Regional Group Meetings in Tanzania, the ECOFEL Certification Program (ECP) team shared a status update on the program’s progress and engaged with FIUs and partners across several sessions, including TATWG, MSCWG, IEWG, and the EC.

The discussions focused on the current state of ECP course development, upcoming modules under development, and early considerations for national rollout of the Baseline Certification. Participants were invited to reflect on how the ECP could support onboarding, upskilling, and preparation for mutual evaluations, as well as the types of guidance that would be most helpful as FIUs begin thinking about implementation.

  • Strong interest in the ECP as a shared baseline for FIU capacity building
  • Practical discussion around onboarding approaches and rollout considerations
  • Continued emphasis on FIU engagement, quality assurance, and sustainability

As the program continues to evolve, ECOFEL looks forward to building on this momentum and continuing engagement with the FIU community as the ECP moves into its next phase.

ECOFEL thanks all participants for their engagement and valuable input, which continues to shape the development of the ECOFEL Certification Program.
